In her artistic realizations Aneta Grzeszykowska treats photography purely instrumentally, as an excuse for more complicated artistic and ontological exercises connected with the examination of reality’s structures. The artist is interested in the role photography plays in creating and documenting a personal identity. In her projects she examines also her own identity. The example of such Grzeszykowska’s work is “Negative Book”. The pictures were taken with an analogue large format in a form of diapositives. Next, working in the darkroom she developed the positives into negatives.

Aneta Grzeszykowska was born in 1975 in Warsaw. In 1999 she graduated from Graphic Arts Department of the Warsaw Fine Arts Academy. From 1999 to 2005 she did artistic cooperation with Jan Smaga who lives in Warsaw. Both became famous after photography series entitled “Plany”. Since 2005 Grzeszykowska does projects individually. The primary medium in which she works is photography. The topic of her works often touches upon the identity of unity and perception of the second person. In 2014 she won Polish competition which is called Polityka’s Passport Award in The Visual Arts category. Her photographs are in the most famous galleries around the world, for example Salomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.
