MetaMemory 1977 – ∞
47th Anniversary of the 27th Birthday of the MetaMemory project beginnings.
Since July 17, 1977, I have been carrying out a permanent photographic project involving taking a self-portrait every day. Over the years, the project has evolved into a multimedia and online version that includes other people and artifacts.
At the Museum of Photography, I will present fragments of the history of the MetaMemory project and the associated MultiplePortrait Studio. A 19th-century invention that inspired many artists, including Wacław Szpakowski, Marcel Duchamp, and Stanisław Witkacy, will serve me to take photos of interested viewers. To create new MultiplePortraits, I plan to construct a new system of mirrors and a new large-format camera. The MultiplePortrait Studio will also be available to other photographers.
In 2018, reflections related to the MetaMemory project culminated in a doctorate titled MetaMemory: From Word, Photography, Film, and Television to Live Streaming on the Internet, visually dedicated to Gustav Courbet. In this work, I discuss the nature and connections of cybernetics, historiosophy, MediaMemory, Ethosophy, and the CopyPlease principle with human nature, self-awareness, and the Big Bang.
This text will be the subject of several discussion panels with invited guests and audience participation, addressing questions posed in the MetaMemory text such as:
– What was at the beginning?
– Why is the question the most important?
– Why cybernetics?
– Why do we write diaries?
– What is MediaMemory?
– Why are patents and copyrights the greatest crime against humanity?
– Can we return to Paradise?
