Interwoven Visions

The exhibition by Swedish artist Lisen Stibeck, Interwoven Visions, showcased at the Dimbola Museum as part of the 30th anniversary of opening the house of pioneering Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron to the public, consists of a selection of photographs that engage in a dialogue with the craft and artistic vision of one of the most esteemed artists of the 19th century. In her photography, Lisen Stibeck employs both traditional and modern photographic techniques, exploring the theme of universal female experiences and the manifestation of a dreamlike reality.

Lisen Stibeck

Award-winning Swedish artist Lisen Stibeck is known for her long-term photographic projects addressing themes of female experience. Her interest in teenage identity culminated in the publication of the photo book Daughters (2014), which was also the result of the artist’s long-term collaboration with her mentor, the legendary documentary photographer Mary Ellen Mark, who wrote the foreword to the publication. In subsequent projects, Stibeck focused on the visual exploration of the female psyche, dreams, and archetypes – notably in the photo book Undertow (2020). Lisen Stibeck’s exhibitions have been showcased in prestigious galleries and institutions across Europe, including Fotografiska in Stockholm.
