Being alone with a portrayed person, whether few minutes or few hours, what matters to me is being with another human being and the energy flow between us. A face of a portrayed person to me has been for many years a subtly plotted mystery with many unknowns. With unfinished and undefined set of features and truths written on it.
The knowledge of a portrayed person about himself/herself often differs from the picture obtained during a portrait session. This person, pulled from his/her safety capsule, stripped of the self-image, is frequently surprised by the final result.
Depending on a person, a meeting and time spent, we together reveal the true identity. The photo character offers me his or her portrait. Workshop participants will work with Fujifilm’s instant cameras Instax.
